Locklan

Locklan is a masculine name of Scottish Gaelic origin, a modern variant of Lochlan derived from Old Norse elements meaning “land of lakes” and “fjord land.” Historically borne by Norse-Gaelic settlers in western Scotland, the name conveys a sense of elemental strength and quiet resolve. In the United States it has seen a gradual rise—ranked 901st in 2024 with 23 recorded births—indicating growing appeal among parents who favor names that feel both distinctive and rooted in tradition. While it may not top the most popular lists—or spark a playground revolution—Locklan offers a quietly confident choice that bridges rugged heritage and contemporary sensibility.
