Meaning of Micah
Micah is a Hebrew name meaning "Who is like the Lord?" It is a shortened form of Micaiah, a name carried by several figures in the Hebrew Bible, and standard name dictionaries agree on this derivation. Its best-known bearer is the prophet Micah, whose book is one of the twelve minor prophets and is remembered for the verse "act justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with your God."
In Hebrew the name is pronounced MEE-kah; English speakers say MY-kah.
Alongside the prophet, the name is shared by Micah Parsons, the NFL defensive end, and by Micah Christenson, the American volleyball setter and two-time Olympic bronze medalist.
